Moving Dance Company strives to create thought-provoking, moving, and relevant works for the screen and stage. They intend to reach and inspire wide audiences, especially those who wouldn't ordinarily find themselves at a dance show. About Your Instructor:
Nika Antuanette
Nika Antuanette is a professional dancer and wellness instructor who has made it her mission to inspire others to be the best version of themselves. Her journey with Yoga started at the age of 11; she was naturally drawn to the asanas. Embodying the physical postures of yoga acted as a place for her to find balance in a non-judgmental space. Dance always felt like a home and rich territory for growth and expansion, yet Yoga offered the space between to experience things in a non-judgmental way. That condition existed in other ways for dance, but it was clear there were ideals that she was striving toward using the techniques given. Yoga didn't have that pressure to conform to an ideological standard, and instead, it put an emphasis on mindfulness and compassion as the framework for the discipline. Since then, Nika has dedicated her life to learning and teaching others the transformative power of mindful movement. She continues to perform and choreograph, as well, utilizing ways to connect to pleasure and find joy in exerting effort or experiencing feelings of intensity. Dance is a metaphor for life, and Nika dives into that condition whole-heartedly through improvisation and structured movement sequences.
Her approach combines specific techniques with a light-hearted approach that helps her connect with her students on a deeper, intuitive level. Nika's passion for wellness has taken her across the country, where she has taught in-person private and group classes, as well as online sessions. She covers a range of topics, including Yoga (Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, & Restorative), Meditation (Loving Kindness, Mindfulness, Progressive Muscle Relaxation, Walking, Moving, etc), Dance (Contemporary, Jazz, Modern, Ballet, Improv) and Mindful Movement, a unique hybrid format for people of all ages and levels of ability. Through her work, Nika hopes to empower others to live healthier, more balanced lives. Her students describe her as a compassionate, knowledgeable instructor who brings a positive energy to every session.
With Nika's guidance, individuals can tap into a sense of play and pleasure, while harnessing the tools they need to improve their physical and mental wellbeing.
